What?!

Ok this is not fair >:(

All the transportation to the schools are closed, but all school’s remain open. Why can’t they just close everything, including transportation and the schools? There is freezing rain outside, the roads are slippery and dangerous, and since the buses are cancelled not alot of kids will be at school.

I don’t know what other people think…but my opinion is that if the transportation is closed, then the schools that the buses go to should be closed as well.

IMPORTANT NEWS
Transportation canceled - Monday January 15
Transportation has been canceled for all schools. All schools remain open.

Don’t get me wrong, i absolutely LOVE the snow:-) snow snow snow snow snow! WOOHOO! Now is the time we get a whole dump of snow and hopefully…a SNOWDAY! I honestly can’t remember the last time we had a snowday

Scientists say that no two snoflakes look the same..I kinda believe that and yet I kinda don’t believe it..Its weird because there about atleast 5 million (made up number) snowflakes in a winter storm, and they’re saying that each snowflake has an individual design..Alright then..

Report #2

The name of the site for my second report is called Quotiki.com. Quotiki is basically a site where people from all over the world can enter this website, type in a person or a specific quote, and find either where that quote came from and what that person said or did. You can search through our entire quotes database from the homepage or filter by quote, author, or tag (keywords that members have tagged quotes and authors with) to find quotes from literature, speeches, or the media.

Quotiki works in many ways. An example: Billy Joe-Bob wanted to look up some quotes for his  project on Albert Einstein. He decided to go to Quotiki.com and typed in “Albert Einstein” in the ’search’ space. When the website loaded, he found over 20 quotes that he could use for his project.

Another way that Quotiki works is that you can click on the “Tags” option on the top bar. That option sends you to another page, where you can click on a certain tag and find all the quotes that there is under that certain tag. For example, Olaf wanted to look for a Simpson quote for his report on how the Simpsons changed the life of teenager ‘t.v-holics’. So, he typed in Quotiki.com and clicked on the ‘Tags’ option. There, he found many quotes. He found the Simpsons tage under ‘Popular Author Tags‘. He clicked that tag and found many Simpsons quotes that could help him with his report.

People from all over the world come on Quotiki to use the quotes and to find who says a certain quote. Quotiki promotes the idea of communication by allowing people to make an account and comment on the quotes you have either made or found on another site. When you sign-up and make your account, the makers of Quotiki collect your e-mail address and communicate with you through e-mail. They also can send you an e-mail saying if someone commented on your quote(s), or if there has been any changes on Quotiki.

Some problems I imagine that this site can solve is when someone is looking desprately for a quote, they can go to the Quotiki website, search a specific quote or person, and Quotiki can give that person many suggestions on that topic and/or quotes. A problem I can imagine Quotiki to create is the fact that when someone looks up a quote and find one that they like, they will say that they thought of the quote by themselves. Basically, they will not make a reference for the Quotiki website.

The reasons I like Quotiki.com are:

  • It’s easy to find a quote
  • It’s easy to use
  • You can submit quotes
  • There is a wide variety of quotes from different people all over the world
  • There are different tags for you to choose from if you need a quote from a specific event, like a christmas quote

“Some see the glass as half-empty, some see the glass as half-full. I see the glass as too big.” -George Carlin

Report #1

The name of the site for my first report is called aniBoom.aniBoom is a site for people to get together, make animations, and then post them on this website for others to see and comment. This website is a cross-media animation content program which addresses a wide variety of audiences. The creators of aniBoom have geared this site for everyone in the animation industry. The animators include top professionals, semi-professionals, amateurs, and animation fans from all over the world.

aniBoom is the “community site for the entire animation society”. People can communicate with everyone, telling them how they feel on their videos, what they like, and what they dislike. The creators of aniBoom have also made contests for all the animators to enter, and to win prizes. The major functions of aniBoom include an enourmous amount of talented animators, online tools for your animation, and being able to track your statistics. Your statistics are your very own website tracking device. Statistics track people who have watched your animations, where those viewers are from, and what sites have the links to your video/animation.

 Animation Competition

This site allows people to communicate/interact with one another. People interact by adding comments and making videos. The creators of aniBoom also interact by putting information on their Home menue, writing blogs, and puting up different contests and who the winners are from previous contests. They also answer any questions and cornerns that some animators would have if they ran into a difficult problem. The problems that I imagine aniBoom would have is that people would upload videos that were against a certain race or a video that was meaning to insult someone or something. Another problem would be that someone would copy another animator’s movie, put it on their BOOM-Zone*, and take credit for making it.

*BOOM-Zone: your own personal space on aniBoom. This space allows you to upload movies, write brief synopsis’, communicate, and let people see your personal profile (things you like, things you hate, dreams, goals, etc.).

The problem I imagine aniBoom would solve is when someone just needs something to do. When they get bored, they can go on aniBoom and they can make either funny animations, drama videos, music videos with a bit of animation in it, and the just plain crappy video. The reasons I like aniBoom.com are:

  • people can make simple animations
  • others can comment on your videos/animations
  • you can communicate with others
  • you can personalize your BOOM-Zone however you like it

An example of a funny animation is this video called Brainless. It’s by Ayce Kartal and the video has so far gotten 39,364 hits:

If this doesn’t work, then here is the address to access the video. Its 7 minutes and 14 seconds long.
